We're about ten minutes in to the USMNT's first warm-up game. A few thoughts:
1) Brad Guzan's goalkeeper jersey looks ridiculous.
2) I can't tell if Onyewu is 100% or not. Holden looks good, though.
3) Our fans need new chants. Seriously.
I'll be updating with more thoughts in the comments section, as the game develops. Booyah.

13:03 - It's pretty apparent that these are a lot of our scrubs/prove-it-players. They look very disjointed. Of course this could just be typical US Soccer, in which we absolutely refuse to possess the ball.
ReplyDelete18:09 - Torres is good. Gooch is starting to get into it. I will never not think it's funny that Petr Cech is Czech... I wish my name was Zachary America.
ReplyDeleteGOAL!!!!! Edu!!!!!
Pretty decent set piece. All credit to Clarence Goodson for attacking the ball and creating the tap-in for Edu.
25:31 - Wow. We got VERY lucky. Thanks for sucking, Fenin.
ReplyDelete29:15 - I know I'm in the minority here, but I really wish Freddy Adu was in this squad. I keep having flashbacks to the U20 World Cup where he literally destroyed half of the free world with his pace, dribbling and finishing. Torres is a good technical player who I think can provide some of the same spark, but I'm pretty sure Bradley won't take him to S.A.
ReplyDelete32:45 - If Brad Guzan has ever wondered why he's not the US's first choice in goal, it's because he's not bald enough.
ReplyDelete35:10 - Steve Cherundolo is an ugly Eddie Lewis.
ReplyDelete38:35 - Jonathon Bornstein is terrible. He's made a bunch of defensive mistakes and an even greater number of inaccurate passes. And this is after I extend to him a huge amount of Jew-Solidarity.
ReplyDeleteClarence Goodson, on the other hand, is BALLING.
40:35- DaMarcus Beasley has a WEIRDLY SHAPED HEAD.
ReplyDelete42:33 - There's a loud fan next to the main field mic. I can hear everything he yells. So far, he only yells "Bullshit."
ReplyDelete43:28 - C'mon, Onyewu. Seriously? Goal for the Czechs. Mostly because you decided not to jump.
ReplyDelete45:00+ - Pitch invader. We're at half-time, tied 1-1. Our goal was better than their goal, but neither were very good.
ReplyDeleteHALF - Overall, the Czechs have been the better team. More possession, more danger, more class. I know this isn't our first unit, but still. We need to step it up.
ReplyDeleteRONALDO REPORT - Chicken and rice. Delicious.
ReplyDeleteIn other World Cup news, let's recap some of the other International Friendlies that went down today.
ReplyDeleteBoth Nigeria and Cameroon tied 0-0 versus Saudi Arabia and Georgia, repsectively.
Paraguay tasted Ireland's pain, losing 2-1 to the O'Team.
North Korea and Greece tied 2-2. I don't know if that means Greece played like shit or NoKo played balls out. Maybe both.
45:00 - Ching, Gomez, Sacha, Rodgers and Pearce in at the half. Johnson, Buddle, Torres, Beasley and Bornstein out.
ReplyDelete49:00 - Robbie Rodgers is a manic player. I can never decide if I like him or not.
ReplyDeleteSo far this half, the US looks hungry. Trust me, I can spot hungry.
53:00 - Wynalda just said that Bob Bradley was going to announce his 23 man roster tomorrow. Really? That's a terrible plan. Just terrible.
ReplyDelete54:46 - Brian Ching, go home. Booooooooo.
ReplyDelete55:03 - Wow. Czech Republic almost scored again. That guy was BARELY offsides.
ReplyDelete57:25 - Remember that hunger I was just talking about? I think it might be gone.
ReplyDelete57:50 - There we go, that's the US I know. WE are so good at fucking up.
ReplyDeleteHeath Pearce, you idiot. Czech Rep leads, 2-1.
63:30 - Bedoya's about to come on. Probably for Edu. We'll see.
ReplyDeleteGomez with a shot on goal. Right at Cech. He's got to do better.
65:03 - CLARENCE GOODSON, ONCE AGAIN! He heads the ball across the face of the goal, and Gomez finishes with class. 2-2.
ReplyDeleteBedoya comes on for Onyewu. Edu slides into center back.
70:30 - Two good attacking movements in a row. I'm starting to believe. Rodgers is taking dudes on.
ReplyDelete77:10 - Heath Pearce is the Brian Ching of our defense.
ReplyDelete77:20 - I hate Heath Pearce. At least this means he isn't coming to South Africa. Czech Rep. leads 3-2. Do we have another one in us?
ReplyDelete80:00 - 10 minutes left to tie it up. Or, to lose worse.
ReplyDelete81:11 - With Robbie Findley not featuring (so far) tonight, I guess that means he's definitely coming to S.A.
ReplyDelete87:27 -Holden's set pieces over the last 20 minutes have been shit-shit-crap.
ReplyDelete89:10 - At least, in losing tonight, England will overlook us even more than they already do. It heightens the surprise we have in store.
ReplyDelete92:00 - Well, fuck. That seals it. This game was like shitting in a bucket of piss for the US. 4-2, Czech Republic.
ReplyDeleteFULL TIME - I'm out. More on this tomorrow.
